It’s officially been 4 months since the vet told me she had 3-6 months left. I still don’t believe it. I can’t accept it. She had her 3 month echocardiogram checkup and the cardiologist said there are no major changes. Which with this disease I know is such a good thing but it still can’t help feeling like I failed. I thought all the changes, the meds, the supplements would magically heal her heart back to normal. Having a timeline is a double edged sword. On one side, it’s allowed me to be more present and to truly cherish every day with her. On the other, it feels like an albatross around my neck weighing me down. I’d give anything to keep her here with me forever. She’ll keep getting echos every 3 months and we will keep enjoying every moment left together. ❤️ #dilatedcardiomyopathy #dcmindogs
