I owe it all to sharks. The species that most people fear, is the species that saved me. I don’t really ever go into detail about my personal struggles, or the deep losses I have experienced. We all have challenges, and I hate the idea of people feeling sorry for me. But the things I have gone through in life are what have molded me into the human I am today. And sharks are the ones who have always been there for me, and have constantly reminded me of who I am. We are just two animals (one human, one shark) that are both survivors, and that fight every day to push forward even when it seems impossible, to continue existing in this life. The truth is, the place I feel most like myself, is around sharks. I feel so connected to these animals that without them I actually feel that I lose a part of my identity. The line in this song, “I don’t believe in God, but I believe that you’re my savior” speaks so deeply to me. Spiritually I am not entirely sure what I believe. But I definitely believe in energy and the spiritual connection between animals and between species. I feel that life is a constant flow of energy, and with every encounter you have there is an energy exchange. No one is more sensitive to your energy than animals. Without the ability to communicate with words, your energy is all you have. And I really believe that this is how we remain connected to whatever purpose or path we have in life. I do not believe everything happens for a reason. And I do not believe that there is a divine plan for each of us. I believe sometimes things just suck and there is no “reason.” But energy is constant. And energy is always shifting. So if you are able to move through the moments that may seem impossible, they will pass. And you will transition into the next phase. Whatever that phase may be. Sharks have healed me in ways I could never explain, and I will be forever grateful to them for that.
