Why are monkey bars so much harder now? Weight plays a large role, but many of us also climbed and moved more as kids. Here are some ways to build up! Honestly, monkey bars may cause some injury if you're not used to them and you dive right in, so be careful and train other exercises like pullups until you feel ready!. Have a wonderful day #hybridcalisthenics
How much difference do lifting straps make? (for me) It was easier for me to test this on this scale than to try to rack pull "real" weights Of course, this is just strength in the top-range. I can't deadlift anywhere close to this. I don't really train deadlifts at the moment, but it could be cool to train them more at some point! #hybridcalisthenics
Want better grip on pullup bars? Well don't get these - they made it worse. I guess they could help train your grip and make your regular grip stronger. Or maybe I'm using them wrong? I tried a few different ways. Just wanted to share! Have a wonderful day #hybridcalisthenics #pullups #grip
How thicc is your grip? For those who want to train their grip (and forearms) an extra bit - try gripping a thicker bar (there are different add-ons you can make or try too). It substantially to the difficulty! Recommendations: PLEASE start light with this, especially if you're an experienced lifter but new to thick grips. Your limit may be lower than you think. Be safe. Consider doing this after your training so your grip isn't extra exhausted and limiting your other exercises. Not sponsored at all, as usual. Just sharing. Have a thicc day!
Rice bucket grip training is awesome (for me. I think I needed some more wrist and arm work and this was perfect.) I was surprised at how good and satisfying it felt. Try it out if you get a chance! 5 gallon bucket and 25lb of rice is what I used. #hybridcalisthenics
Trying weighted hula hoops Not really for me but if it inspires you to move and get fit, that's awesome and the ideal. That applies to anything I review and try. Something that's a 1/10 for me might be a 10/10 for you if it's what you need. By itself, I don't think it'd do that much for calories, waist trimming, etc. You'd have to do it for quite long. Still fun to try and see the design though! Some people make enjoy doing this while watching TV etc. #hybridcalisthenics #homeworkout
What if your grip is holding you back? I used to recommend people build up with easier variations (or lighter weight if you're lifting weights - I mostly talk about bodyweight stuff) However, nowadays, I think it's reasonable if some people need grip assistance to do harder variations and just train their grip afterwards. This doesn't neglect their grip training but gives them that extra oomph that's helpful to make strength and muscle progress. Just some thoughts! The video isn't sponsored, but someone recommended the brand to me. I like them so far, but some might find the price a bit of a turn off. I can do a more in-depth review if you like. #hybridcalisthenics
Learning to stand up without using your hands! While this is much easier for some people that others, many people can learn to do this to some extent. It can be handy!
Why do so many people walk 10,000 steps a day? While walking can be a nice gentle exercise, some may want faster ways. On the other hand, some articles want to remind us that the 10,000 number is arbitrary. We can benefit from less and others may choose to do more. #hybridcalisthenics
Do these ab straps help you train your core? They didn't really strike me as "necessary" at first, I guess? In my mind, there are other ways people can stay gripped to the bar. And there aren't that many exercises you can do with them. That said, I suspect some people will see this and be inspired to train their core (some people just connect strongly when they see it working). And if that's you, that's awesome! Have any of you tried it? Just wanted to share - have a wonderful day! #hybridcalisthenics #homeworkout #abs
Mini stepper unsponsored review While not necessarily good for strength training (limited progression), it can offer an accessible way for some people to burn some extra calories indoors if they're unable to do walking etc or choose not to. Opinion: if it INSPIRES you enough to do it consistently, this can serve you well! Building up to 30 minutes to an hour a day can help. Just keep realistic expectations and maybe add in some pushups or other resistance training later. Follow along workouts are available for people that want it. Have a wonderful day! #hybridcalisthenics #homeworkout #unsponsoredreview
I really didn't like this orb grip trainer thing. That might just be a me thing, though. Maybe someone with a different hand size would find it more suiting. I guess some could argue that we could adapt to the sideways pressure, but I haven't personally known anyone that's done that in this way - open to knowing if anyone has. In my opinion, there are better ways to train your grip. That said - if it works for you, that's great! Have a wonderful day #hybridcalisthenics
Training wrists with shovels (and then other objects that don't leave a stain) Some of the exercises aren't perfect form, but it's probably also closer to how I'd do them when I'm doing them casually
Taking your grip strength to the next level with wooden sticks They work your thumb muscles a bit extra which can help give more "complete" grip strength. A towel also works. Have a wonderful day! #hybridcalisthenics
Training with sand! Similar to rice, this felt great on my fingers and wrist. Even elbows and shoulders - arms in general. It really helped me feel how things were connected. #hybridcalisthenics
How accurate are smart scales? The consensus from most long-term users I've seen is something like "the weight is usually accurate, but the composition is off". Some people suggest using it as a reference point, but I've found that not all brands are consistent enough for this. I would say they're a handy tool for some people but not necessary.
