i know i talk very openly about my health issues on the internet, but that doesnt automatically mean i am comfortable with a stranger asking invasive questions when i’m using my mobility aids! you’d be surprised about the number of people who don’t believe juvenile arthritis is a thing🫠 a lot of the time, people see someone using a mobility aids and ask questions expecting an honest response, which can be extremely uncomfortable for someone using mobility aids. questions tend to come with judgement and/or further invasive questions (ie: “well how do you use the toilet then?” yes, this is something disabled people get asked A LOT) my medical history is between me and my health care team. what you see on the internet is what someone is choosing to share, no their whole story!! #disabilityawareness #disabilitytiktok #spooniesoftiktok #juvenilearthritis #chronicpain #chronicfatigue #autoimmunedisease #ambulatorywheelchairuser

using mobility aids helps me in a wide range of ways. my wheelchair helps me to go out on longer days, or even on days where i’m experiencing a flare-up. and it helps to manage my symptoms that worsen after physical exertion. without it, i’d be completely stuck at home, no matter my symptom severity. my crutches and cane help me to go shorter distances while managing my symptoms and having stability with my walking. some days, i use no mobility aids at all. that doesn’t mean i’m no longer disabled. my disability is dynamic. my needs change day to day and that is okay! my mobility aids are my freedom🌸 #disabilityawareness #disabilitytiktok #spooniesoftiktok #juvenilearthritis #chronicpain #chronicfatigue #autoimmunedisease #ambulatorywheelchairuser
